About Sandra Martins-Toner

Sandra is the Founder and Executive Director of Families Against Crime and Trauma (F.A.C.T.) Sandra’s eldest son Matthew Lee Martins was robbed and murdered on July 2nd, 2005.
As a result of this Sandra has seen first hand the lack of support for the victims and the victims’ families during this grievous time. Sandra’s missions are to Inform and educate other families as to what resources are out there for them, and to apply pressure to the government to change the laws pertaining to violent offenders.
Raising awareness in the community is key; we must take a stand, and not allow the criminals the chance to re-offend. She hopes to make a difference not only in the community, but all across Canada.

Sandra, you are an inspiration to all of us, even someone like me who is not a mother and knows no grief like yours. I heard, saw and FELT your tears and anguish on TV recently and it is in that very way that you force the powers-that-be to see the reality, the consequences and the face of pain and injustice.
Our laws must change and thanks to your relentless efforts I believe change will come, tho surely not soon enough. May God bless you and bring you some level of comfort knowing you are fighting a battle for your son. Matthew could not ask for a better mother.
